Coke Logo 01 and Coke Logo 02

Coke Logo 01 and Coke Logo 02

The abstracts are done objectively with markers, pens, pencil and paper being the objects used. Avoiding the appearance of specific subjects is the goal of abstract art (in my opinion). But what if there were recognizable images woven in to the media used? These are the first two pieces in a series of illustrations using the Coke Logo as a recognizable image. Disguised in the general composition in COKE LOGO 01 is the word “Coca-” and in COKE LOGO 02, “Cola.” Further hidden in the mixed media are slogans and other brand-related images. The prints are sold as a pair and read from left to right.

Coke Logos 03 through 09 were painted on plywood, with sign paint, white on a coke-red background with a black drop shadow. Six of the seven were given as Christmas gifts in 2015. COKE LOGO 10 was featured in the “Art of the Pines Gallery” in May, “Signs of Summer.” Prints of COKE LOGO 10 are available in the print bins. Looking forward to illustrating the more elaborate version, Coke Logo 11 later this year, in 2024.
